CERO wants to implement new and improved groomed cross country trails in the Mankato area. Our first big project for this is at Lake Washington. We are working with a resident of Lake Washington and Le Sueur County to put their plans in action. Lake Washington is a great location and it already has a warming house and parking lot.

We have used funds for some of the following items to use with Le Sueur county's existing 2022 Polaris 550 sled:

  • Tiddtech 6 ft roller

  • Tiddtech 4 ft groomer

  • Track setter

  • Trail signage (trailhead map, trailhead rules, K markers, Hazard, loop names)

  • The Loppet Foundation will provide grooming training for free.

  • Any misc expenses or items that arise along the way

We have cleared trails for Phase 1 and now we just wait for Mother Nature to give us enough snow for the trails to be groomed!

PHASE 1 GOAL: $10,000
Progress: $8,150

Donations are being accepted and your donation can be specifically allocated to this project. This is the first of many groomed cross country trail projects we want to implement. Checks can be made out to CERO and mailed to 836 Sherman Street, North Mankato, MN 56003. Please write "Lake Washington project" in the subject line so that we know where to allocate the funds.

Ryan and Jill McKeown are willing to match up to $4,000 in donations through their Ryan and Jill McKeown Fund through the Mankato Area Foundation AND another business willing to match up to $5,000 in individual donations so any help is greatly appreciated to get us to our goal!

We also just received a $2,000 grant from the Carl and Verna Schmidt Foundation out of Rochester and a $4,000 grant from the North Star Ski Touring Club! THANK YOU!

Our first clearing party is scheduled for September 22 from 9-5. If you're interested in helping clear and widen some trails, please contact us so we can add you to the email distribution list.

This project would not be happening if it weren't for Tyler of Le Sueur County and Adam Segar. They have been instrumental in this from the start so a huge THANK YOU goes out to them!

A fundraiser for this is being planned. Stay tuned for details. If you're interested in helping in any way, please contact us.

Thank you to our Generous Donors and Grantors
